Memory Verse - Luke 2:10-12

Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.  For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.  And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.

Song - Hark! The Herald Angels Sing

Hark! the herald angels sing,
"Glory to the newborn King!
Peace on earth and mercy mild,
God and sinners reconciled."
Joyful, all ye nations rise,
Join the triumph of the skies,
With the angelic host proclaim:
"Christ is born in Bethlehem."
Hark! the herald angels sing,
"Glory to the newborn King!"

Activities and Discussion -

This week, light three candles when you read the Bible passages.   Explain how the angels brought even more light to the world concerning Christ.

For these days of advent we will focus on acting out the storyline.  Of course you could do crafts like constructing angles or sheep or whatever as well.  Talk to your child(ren) about how the angels were used by God to spread the news of the coming King (Jesus), first to Mary and Joseph, then to the shepherds.  This would be a great time to practice if your child is going to be a part of a nativity program on Christmas.  Act out the scenes and let your child be the character they will be in the program, or say the verses they will be reciting, or sing the song they will be singing.

Merry Christmas!
