Lesson Plan Week 10

MV = Memory Verse, CT = Character Trait, FP = Forest People

Posts Detailing Items From This Lesson Plan:

Taking a break from the 'normal' during November to celebrate Thanksgiving and December to celebrate Christ's birth and taking a complete break this past week while my husband was home from work was so nice and very refreshing, but I am ready and excited to get back in the swing of things!  This is what I have planned for this week.  We are not getting back to our normal spelling and writing quite yet though, because we've got some thank you notes to write!  It will probably take us two weeks to finish them, but then we will return to normal for that too.

I was really happy this morning to see how much Trevor has grown over our break.  He seems like such a big boy to me these days, and that was reflected in his school too!  His attention span and comprehension was noticeably better while we were reading from our Little House book.  He was actually reading most of the numbers correctly off of our flash cards (two digit numbers like 34 and 72 for example that he has previously struggled with).  Then I had him have alone reading time on his bed while I got dressed in the morning and I actually heard him sounding out words and then making up his own as the story got more complex until he got to the last page!  This is the first time that reading time has  actually been successful (Trevor actually trying to read and enjoying it =)  Mackenzie even stayed on her bed with her books and didn't bother him!

Speaking of Mackenzie, she is starting to soak up learning too!  She is learning her colors and some numbers.  I love that she likes to sit by Trevor and I while we are doing school.  I'll look over at her and she will be lining pegs up pretending to count them while Trevor and I are doing math with other pegs.  If I ask Trevor a question, she sometimes offers a nonsense answer =)  I love that I won't have to 'officially' teach her as much as I did Trevor, simply because she will be learning right along side us by just listening and playing along!

What are you up to this week?  Is school back to normal for you or are you making some changes in your plans?  I'd love to hear what going on in your school time!

Happy Learning!

  1. Amy, this so reminds me of when we had 3-4 year olds!! I kept a record of each week just like this, but mine didn't look as orderly :) I guess when you do it at 1AM, it doesn't have to be very pretty! LOL "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Galatians 6: 9

  2. Jacqueline, it's funny you mention 1AM because that happens to be exactly when I wrote this =) That is not usually the case, but I couldn't fall asleep that night. It helps that my template is already made, though, and all I have to do is plug in the info (once I figure it out!)

Thank you for the encouraging verse!

I just printed off a few more signs to focus on for the next few weeks. We have also continued BIBLE TIME, I will be blogging about that soon so check out my blog at http://myteachersnameismama.blogspot.com/ I'm so impressed Amy. Bless your heart!
