It's here! The picture book bracket is finally ready and waiting for you to fill it out =) I had so much fun looking up all the books you recommended and picking the 64 that I thought were most deserving of being in the bracket. It was definitely hard to choose. Some of the books were a little more baby/toddler and other were more early read books. I tried to pick similar levels of books for the bracket. If this goes well and lots of you participate, then maybe we could do another one with a different level of books!
Also, I tried not to overwhelm the bracket with any one author, so sometimes I put (and others) next to the name of a book. If you have a favorite that is not on the list, you can consider it with the (and others) of the author =) Hey, maybe a favorite children's book authors (or illustrators!) bracket would be fun!
Anyways, are you ready to hear what you need to do to participate?
Greatest Picture Book Bracket Instructions
- Download the Bracket - It will open in Google Docs and then you can download it as a Word file.
- Fill out the Bracket - Look over all the books (check out the second page to see the whole list in a little bigger font and with their authors) and then fill in which you think will win each vote. You can type your pics right into the bracket.
- Save your bracket (preferably as a PDF) with your full name at the beginning of the file name so I know whose if whose! Then email it to me (my email address is in the bracket document).
- Each week we will vote on a whole round of face-offs (the 1st week will be 32 votes, 2nd week 16, etc.) until we get to a winner.
- I will score the brackets, but you can keep track of your own score too! Scoring will be as follows: round 1 (1pt each), round 2 (2pts), round 3 (3 pts), round 4 (4 pts), round 5 (5pts), winner (6 pts)
- The person with the most points at the end will win a $35 amazon.com giftcard!
Voting will begin on Thursday, May 29th, so have your brackets in by Wednesday the 28th for maximum possible points! (You can turn them in late, but you will miss the points on any rounds that have already been voted on).
The voting will be open to everyone, but you will only be able to win the gift card it you fill out and turn in a bracket! I was thinking of making the prize the final four books, but then I thought I would just let you pick out your own books =) Then, I thought $35 would be good so that you would be able to get free shipping (for those of you who don't have amazon prime, like me!)
