Take a Trip to the Library - Scholé Everyday

Thanks for coming back for another day of our month of Scholé Everyday!   If you missed the first post which explains what's going on, take a minute to read it.  Remember, these are just going to be short posts with an idea to encourage you in the way of restful learning.

Did anyone notice that I missed having a post yesterday?  I decided that since I'm advocating restful learning this month, that I need to make sure that I am practicing what I'm preaching!  I had a very full day yesterday and I was a little stressed out.  I knew that enjoying an evening of scholé what just what I needed.  It was really neat because after dinner, my husband actually started talking to me about a book he has been reading.  I didn't even have to bring up the idea of having a nice conversation, he did it for me!  I fought the urge to be 'productive' and enjoyed sitting on the couch chatting with him about the book.

So please forgive me for missing a post, but really I hope that you didn't even notice because you were so deep in conversation with one of your family members as well ;)

Today my encouragement to you is to:

Take a Trip to the Library or a Bookstore

I don't know about you, but I just feel wonderful when I am at the library or a place like Barnes and Nobel.  I don't read as much as you probably think I do, but I sure do love being surrounded by books!  Just being at one of those places puts me in a contemplative, peaceful state of mind.  Have you decided on a book to read yet? (Check out last week's post, Join the Great Conversation, for lots of ideas!)  Choose a day this week to go to the library or your favorite bookstore and get started on your new book!

Maybe you will enjoy browsing the shelves looking for a book idea, or finding the one you already decided on.  If it is appropriate in the place you choose, maybe you could just sit and start reading it for an hour!  Depending on the ages of your kids, maybe you could take one of them or make it a date night with your spouse.  Whatever works for your family is right for you, just enjoy it!

If you are purposing to incorporate scholé into your home this year, I'd love to hear from you!  Share with me what you are doing or how these ideas have impacted your homeschool and I can compile your stories in to a post.  I'd love to even have some guest bloggers if you'd like to write a whole post about how you are using scholé in your homeschool this year!  Contact me and let me know how you are doing!
