Set Out Flowers - Scholé Everyday

Thanks for coming back to day five of our month of Scholé Everyday!   If you missed the first post which explains what's going on, take a minute to read it.  Remember, these are just going to be short posts with an idea to encourage you in the way of restful learning.

How is it going so far?  Let me say that I surely don't intend any of this to be overwhelming!  My hope is that these things will give you ideas going forward this school year for how to have a more restful atmosphere in your home.  If you just want to pick a couple things, that is fine!

Today my encouragement to you is to:

Set Out Flowers

Do you have any fall flowers out in your yard?  Are they selling mums in your local stores yet?  Do you just love looking at a dozen roses?  Grab some and get them on your kitchen table, or somewhere in your home where your family usually congregates.

Are flowers going to automatically make your day include restful learning?  Of course not.  What they will do is add beauty to your life.  Dr. Perrin says that the first step in bring scholé into our lives is to begin to surround ourselves with the true, the good, and the beautiful.

Having beautiful things around in your home will give you things to contemplate.  Who can help but stop and look at beautiful flowers?  Dr. Perrin says that some things do not have quantifiable worth, but they enrich our souls and make us "more human."  That is what we are after, friends!

So grab some flowers and get them in a vase!

If you are purposing to incorporate scholé into your home this year, I'd love to hear from you!  Share with me what you are doing or how these ideas have impacted your homeschool and I can compile your stories in to a post.  I'd love to even have some guest bloggers if you'd like to write a whole post about how you are using scholé in your homeschool this year!  Contact me and let me know how you are doing!
